How to manage Anger.

How to manage Anger.

Understand this, my brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.     JAMES 1:19-21"
Anger is one of the poisons that eat up the world today, similar to cancer, and it eats every intestine in life. It breeds violence, death, wars and corruption. Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure, hostility or antagonism towards someone, usually combined with an urge to harm. When a person is angry, he can say harmful things that weren’t intended, he has the tendency of destroying things that mean a lot to him, there is also a possibility that he or she might harm a person dear to him unintentionally. This is one of the reason different fibers of the society keep falling apart daily.
Many marriages have hit the rock because of this venom, Anger. After 7 years of marriage Taiwo wants a divorce. Taiwo and Bukky dated for some months. They loved themselves dearly, they were even the envy of many couples. Their love was green and amazingly strong. They grew together and finally got married, blessed by both parents. Their marriage was blessed with two beautiful children. What a perfect envious love story. Bukky loves her husband so much but… ANGER. Whenever she gets angry with her husband she vents it fully. She has slapped him in a club because a girl tried to kiss him and he refused, but she claimed he did something that invited the girl. She beats him occasionally. She has spoilt various equipment, furniture, etc. occasionally. She still loves her husband but she can’t control her anger and her husband is not even interested in love anymore, he’s scared for his life. Apart from Taiwo’s story, there are many other similar and even scarier stories. Anger plays a major role in the issue of violence in marriages; both violence against husbands, wives even children.
Anger makes people fight in public. Sometime ago, last year, Ngozi was sent by her mother to the bank to deposit some money and she gave her #100 for transport. The okadaman told her #50 and on getting to the place, Ngozi gave him the #100. This gentleman gave her #20 and was smiling. She laughed and was like “Oga, it still remains now”. This perfect gentleman rudely told her, “go now, the money have do, by the way, you are going to the bank”. She laughed and told him that the fact that she’s going to bank does not make her rich or anything. Little did she know that he was seriously serious. He started his motorcycle and was about to leave and by then she was already getting infuriated. Like where do she get transport fare back to home from. Out of anger and as a full blooded igbo girl, she grabbed the man’s shirt and dragged him as hard as possible, pushed him down to the floor, dug her hand into his pocket, brought out his wallet and remove the money. As she was removing it he slapped and beat her but who are you not to endure the pain when you are a second away from grabbing your diamond. Looollll.
Also on some occasions, anger has also made us fight with either our siblings or best friends. It has led to many deaths, wars and other vices.
